One fun bus ride home…

In recent weeks, the bus I ride home has gotten very crowded. I used to be able to get a seat with no problem, but nowadays, it’s standing for me (and today, as in several other days, I was barely able to get onto the bus at all.) The problem is that Yolobus frequently sends a short bus (as opposed to their long bus) even though they know that even the long bus would be standing room only.

Today was a real treat. It was about 105 degrees outside. They sent a short bus and I barely made it onto the bus. There was no air conditioning so I was packed like a sardine and sweating to boot.  Then after the bus got to Davis, it overheated several times. Several people got off before their stop and walked (in the 105 degree heat.) Fortunately, the bus made it all the way to the final stop, which is my stop.

Needless to say, I went and bought an ice cream…

Bus breaks down three times on the way home

Several weeks ago, I noted that every time the bus broke down on the way home from work, it was after we arrived in Davis. I also hoped that my luck would hold and that the bus would not break down on the freeway.

Well, my luck sort of held. The bus broke down on the freeway – I think it overheated. After about ten minutes, we were on our way again. Then it stalled twice in Davis, both times while at a stop. Fortunately, the driver was able to start it again.

The bus is much more crowded since the repair of Interstate-5 in Sacramento began. In fact, it was far more crowded today than I have ever seen it. Hopefully the busses can withstand the crowd and the heat (it was in the high 90s today.)

Bus breaks down

The bus I was riding to work broke down about 0.7 miles from where I work, so I walked the distance. This is the third time a bus I was riding broke, and fortunately they were all in town (twice in Davis, this time in Sacramento.) I hope that my “luck” continues when the bus breaks, i.e. I hope it doesn’t break on the freeway.
