Yet another idiotic criminal

I have never seen a story like this before. A man robbed a restaurant in Fresno (California) using a screwdriver as a weapon. He hopped on his bicycle to get away. For some unexplained reason, he crashed his bicycle, which caused him to stab himself with the screwdriver, and bled to death from a severed artery.

What kind of idiot would carry a sharp object like a screwdriver in his pocket if he was going to ride his bicycle? Since he was apparently too poor to own (or drive) a car, I guess he also couldn’t afford a Swiss Army Knife or a protective case to store the screwdriver.

This story could be a lesson that parents could use to teach their kids not to carry around sharp objects in their pockets…

May is National Bike Month!

Check out the official site for National Bike Month. With the cost of gasoline being what it is, everyone (including me) should try not to use their cars for things they can use a bike for – including lots of “errands.” (I do drive my car every day to the bus stop. The problem is that if I walk or ride my bike, I don’t think I can get there on time — I am not a morning person…)

That being said, my mom and I went out for a bike ride today. We rode approximately 6.5 miles (approximate measure by the Gmaps Pedometer site.)
