Obama-mania

If the reaction on social networking sites is representative of the country as a whole (and it may not be), then I suspect that many people will be calling in “sick” to work tomorrow morning. There are so people on Plurk and Twitter that are overjoyed to be getting a new president who is completely different from Bush that one would think that the United States had just won World II again.

Since the Democrats have increased their control of both houses of Congress, it will be interesting as to how long a honeymoon the American public will give President-elect Obama to get us out of our current economic mess. Good luck, Mr. President – you’re gonna need it.

Kids whose parents support Obama get no Halloween candy

Don’t be surprised if her house and/or car gets vandalized. If this happens, this is a rare instance where I am rooting for the criminal not to be caught.

Finally, something to laugh about regarding upcoming election!

It has been reported that one of John McCain’s advisors voted for Barack Obama by absentee ballot. He then wrote a letter to the McCain campaign requesting that he be removed from campaign committees. I wonder why he didn’t just resign.

Given all the negative stuff coming out of McCain’s campaign, this has got to be the funniest thing ever, especially coming this late in the race.

Pet peeve – people who do nothing except badmouth McCain or Obama

I spend a lot of time on the social networking services Twitter and Plurk. I don’t mind people who occasionally talk about McCain vs Obama, but I am getting really annoyed with people who do nothing except badmouth McCain or Obama (mostly McCain.) I am definitely voting for Obama, but this is way too much for me. Fortunately, Plurk allows you to mute threads (so you don’t see any updates), but I’m not sure how to mute these people in Twitter.

The funny thing is that I just commented in Robin Easton’s latest blog entry (see the comment made 10/20/08 at 7:21 pm) that I might stop blogging about my pet peeves.  Well, that lasted a whole 3 hours!

If I do that, I might as well also stop blogging about stupid math questions (which I really haven’t done much of lately). However, there’s no way I am going to stop blogging about idiots! You’ll have to pry the keyboard from my cold, dead fingers… On the other hand, maybe blowing off steam is good for my emotional health. Yeah, I’ll probably continue to post random stuff, but hopefully I can reduce the number of posts on these topics.

If you have actually read the whole post up to here, congratulations! You are probably the first person (other than myself) to read this whole post. As a prize, you can have some of my candy made with milk powder in China!

Public employee (idiot) forwarding political emails…

An employee of DeSoto County (Mississippi) recent found himself in hot water after he forwarded a chain email asking people to pray for Barack Obama to lose the election.  I don’t know what kind of training he received regarding using public resources for political purposes, but this moron should have realized that it was inappropriate (even if he didn’t realize that it is illegal.)

Senator Obama believes in saying “Better late than never”

Barack Obama has finally resigned from the church whose pastor Jeremiah Wright kept saying things that outraged the entire country and kept Obama on the defensive for months (though it was fortunate for him that Hillary Clinton stuck her foot in her mouth on multiple occasions.)

I guess that Reverend Michael Pfleger’s mocking of Clinton was the last straw, so he deserves “thanks” for getting Obama to do the right thing.
