Big name baseball players traded today – wow!

Wow! Both Manny Ramirez and Ken Griffey Jr. were traded today. Ramirez has hit 510 home runs in his career, and Griffey has hit 608. I am assuming that this is the first time in history that 2 players with over 500 home runs have been traded on the same day.

The Red Sox had absolutely no choice but to get rid of Manny. His “Manny being Manny” act has gotten tiresome over the years and his outright insubordination, assaulting team employees, and loafing in the field were totally unexcusable for someone making mimimum wage, let alone $20 million this year. The Red Sox did get a pretty good replacement in Jason Bay.

Griffey wasn’t going to help the Reds any, so they did well to trade him. However, I’m not sure at this point how he is really going to help the White Sox, as he is not clearly better than any of their current outfielders or designated hitter/first basemen.

  1. I am a Yankees fan and hearing that Manny was traded was the best news I’\d heard in a while!

  2. Remember the time that he let three strikes from Marino Rivera go by without swinging at any of them? I bet you’ll miss that!
