Stupid math question of the day

Someone is asking how to factor out -50. This is presumably homework, and the topic is factoring numbers. How hard can it be to grasp the concept that factoring out a number means finding breaking it down into prime numbers (which in this case, -50 =  -2*5*5)?

  1. I actually did teach math for a while and this was a difficult concept for mant students to grasp. The worse thing some students seemed to have it one day and not the next!
Happy belated birthday – mine was Friday

  2. I guess I’ll never understand. Maybe my questions should be featured in someone’s “Stupid Question of the day”…

  3. I got 5*5*2. What went wrong?
